Why different

No streaks. Nothing resets to zero.

Most fitness apps run on the fear of losing something. RYZE runs on one thing: beating yourself.

Rules we don’t break

The only rival is you

Nobody is ranked against anybody, anywhere in the app.

No loss framing

Nothing goes red, nothing drops to zero, nothing says “you’ll lose”. Rhythm can drift, but it shows as a word, never a down arrow.

Slack is free

There’s nothing to buy to protect anything. Rest, illness, travel and injury all count.

No reward for doing more

Rhythm caps at 100%, and sessions beyond the plan earn nothing.

Food never wins by going lower

No celebration for eating less or for weight going down. Body numbers are neutral.

Every celebration has an off switch

Hype, calm or minimal tone, and Reduce Motion keeps celebrations quiet.

Why?

  • Research shows that missing one day doesn’t materially affect habit formation (Lally et al., 2010). A counter that drops to zero tells the wrong story about habits.
  • People disengage after a logged streak breaks, most of all when they blame themselves (Silverman & Barasch, 2023).
  • Praise that tells you what you did raises motivation, while expected rewards lower it (Deci, Koestner & Ryan, 1999).
  • Coming back matters more than never missing. So RYZE rewards the comeback instead of punishing the gap.

Celebration sized to the moment

Three tiers: a small pulse, a volt toast from the top, and a full-screen moment only for the big things. A bigger win absorbs a smaller one, and there are at most 6 toasts a day. RYZE never celebrates weight going down, eating less, or training beyond the plan.
